Looking for a Beginners Beer Brewing Kit for Christmas

My dad has been wanting to get into home brewing for a while now and I want to get him a kit for Christmas. One problem, I dont know the first thing about it or what to get. Neither does he though. I think its going to be a hobby for the both of us to bond. I have been looking at different kits online but they all offer so many different things.
Does anyone know where I can get a kit with 100% of what he would need to start from scratch? I would like it to include bottles, recipes, etc.
Thanks!

Google beer brewing kit. There's plenty options. You'll need a 5 gallon glass carboy, fermentation lock, plastic bottling bucket, bottle filler and a capper at minimum. You might check your local brewing supply shop too. Highly recommend using yeast starter cultures like Wyeast instead of generic yeast.

I got my 1st beginners kit from Midwest Brewing. Sometimes they have groupon for the starter kit.

Where are you? If in BR, go check out LAHomebrew. They have a special going for the holidays where you get the equipment and a kit for one very reasonable price (I think around $75).

I wouldn't get a beginner a glass carboy. Stick with the bucket kit. Glass carboys are heavy and add an element of danger you don't need when you're already nervous about doing other stuff right.
What is generic yeast?
Personally, I'd start with dry yeast.
I agree with the poster about LA Homebrew. If you're in the BR area, it is definitely your best choice. And the owner isn't going to try to sell you stuff you don't absolutely need to get started.
