So my friends have all recently turned 21 and are looking for some Breweries around baton rouge we can go to on the weekends to broaden our horizon's.

We went to the Abita brewery this past weekend and had a great time. Have heard things about a few places in Hammond and parish brewery. Any other good places to check out. TIA

What Rouge said.
And a stop at the Avenue Pub nearby wouldn't be a bad idea

Breweries

Are fun and cool. However, you can sample more styles of beer and from different breweries around the country if you go to a bar with a good tap list.

If yall really want to do the brewery thing then spend the day in New Orleans and do Urban South/Nola/Courtyard.

Alright... here are you plans.

Day trips: head West and go to Parish in Broussard and Bayou Teche in Arnaudville. Parish is better beer, but Bayou Teche is decent and a great cajun atmosphere. Cajun Brewery is in Lafayette, but I haven't been there yet.

Northshore: Gnarly Barley in Hammond is a great spot, especially once it gets cooler in the fall. There's also Low Road in Hammond, but they are really new and their beers need some work. Also Louisiana Purchase in Ponchatoula, but I haven't been there yet. Hit up Blackened Brew in downtown Hammond for burgers and 25-30 or so great taps.

Further on the Northshore: Chafunkta and Old Rail in Mandeville are excellent options. Old Rail is a brewpub so a good lunch spot... also check out Barley Oak on the Mandeville lakefront not far at all from Old Rail.

There are 10ish or so breweries in New Orleans, Rouge's suggestion of Courtyard, NOLA, Urban South is spot on. Parleaux Beer Lab is pretty good as well.

ETA: Locally you have Tin Roof and Southern Craft... Tin Roof is the better of the two, and is usually a good time. Check their instagram or facebook as they sometimes close for private events... that's really not a bad idea for all of these places.

Tin Roof's beer isn't anything special, but the brewery is a great place to hangout

On Wednesday they do yoga.
On fridays and sundays they often have live music.

At the age you and your friends are, I'd recommend going to Tin Roof on Wednesday evenings for yoga night.

I have a wedding in NOLA in October, staying at the Royal Sonesta for 3 days (damn it Mitch fix Bourbon St.), and I plan on hitting Urban South, NOLA, and Courtyard.

I hit Gnarley Barley a couple of weeks ago. It is a decent spot....it had rained like crazy right before we got there so it was a little cooler than it would be if the sun were blazing I'd imagine. The allure here is for sure the beer....damn good beer here.

I go to Parish probably at lease once every 3 months or so since I live within 30 miles. I definitely recommend it...outside of Abita it probably has the nicest tap room of LA breweries that I've been too (which as of yet include 0 in NOLA). As stated above the beer is on point. It's worth it to go here for their Grand Reserve (also back in Jan they had some sours that were damn awesome)...had some 2014 GR last weekend and it was damn good. Although they are trying to produce so much Ghost, Envie, and Canebrake now that I'm not sure we'll get as many of those specialty brews unless they get some more hardware.

I'll probably check on Tin Roof the next time I'm in BR.

NOLA and Tin Roof (and Great Raft) have nicer taprooms than Parish, in my opinion.

Parish has the best beer, though.

Crying Eagle in Lake Charles has a beautiful taproom, but their beer is bad.

You guys can do a weekend of breweries in NOLA if you throw Port Orleans, Secondline and Parleaux in the mix.

I don't doubt it....I don't get up to yankee country often enough to say I'll hit Great Raft anytime soon though ...but I'll definitely check out NOLA soon.

Parish gets the hype for the highly sought beers but as LSUBoo stated, Bayou Teche has a lot more atmosphere. On weekends they usually have live music in the afternoons. Contrary to what one might think, it isn't always Cajun or Zydeco. Keep an eye on their website or facebook page to see who is scheduled when and you can tailor your visit to the type of music you enjoy.

Them Arnaudville boys sometimes cook on Saturdays for people that are at the brewery. You can pass a good time there.
