Does anyone here have any recommendations for a good way to get decent quality live crawfish in Austin for a good price? I used to use a company that delivered field run from Crowley, and his prices and product were always great. This year, his prices are higher than HEB, so I'm tempted to try HEB, but am worried the product will be crap. I'd like to get hooked up with a similar distributor from LA if possible, but don't know where to start.

I'm aware of local places like Stuffed and Quality Seafood, but I usually can't afford them, though their product is really good.

Stuffed has Graded select for $3.50/lb for a 30 lb sack...anything over 90 lbs is $3.25. Pretty cheap for Austin. They're from Crowley, too.

That's pretty good. I got quoted 2.75 / lb for field run for the company that I usually use. In the past few years I've been able to get as low as $2.25 / lb. I'd thought that this year would be really good for prices, but they are worse than last year. I don't get it at all.

I might buy 3 sacks of selects or field run from stuffed then get another from HEB.
