I know it isn't popular on this board but it is far better than Buffalo Wild Wings as far as franchise sports bars go.

They haven't started construction of the one in houma yet (some land clearing), but the sign out front says "completion summer 2015." Must be one hell of a contractor!

Why would the franchisor lose out?

This is what I was wondering as well. Seems like a franchise setup that would play in almost every college town market.
