Wife and I have a rare date night Saturday. Last placed we dined at was Jane’s in late October. Seeing what else is out there that I may be unaware of.

Our options I mentioned were…

Vestal
Charley G’s
Mazen Grill
Marcello’s

Haven’t been to Mazen in about 4-5 years…is it still decent?

We went this past Saturday night and it was fantastic. A little more expensive than I remembered it though.

There is a Chime's that has recently opened in Lafayette that I've heard nothing but great things about.

Pamplona is a good option as well.

ETA: If you opt to go somewhere downtown you can also stop at Sunday's Soda Fountain afterwards.

Vestal is ear-splitting loud. Food is decent.
Mazen's is really not that good. Sorry, not sorry.
Marcello's can be good. The light in the expanded dining room is really bright and glaring. Your wife will turn into ugly Seinfeld date. (So will you, LOL).
Pamplona is good. Tables are a little tight, big-city style.
Park Bistro is good. A little loud, but food is excellent.
The bar table at Antoni's is nice and cozy. Food is decent.

Went to Ruffinos with the in-laws for dinner over christmas and the food and service were MUCH better than I've experienced in the past. It was an all-around great experience.

I don't know if we caught them on a really good night or if they've revamped their staff and kitchen.

But I'm going to give them another shot soon to see if it was a fluke.

That’s encouraging. We haven’t been since 2019 because our last time there, I was extremely underwhelmed by the food.

Anyone been to Romacelli’s in river ranch lately? How is it? We’re really looking just to wine and dine, so doesn’t have to be on vestal or Charley G’s level.

I had heard that it has gotten much better.

Never been a fan. Their pizza is ok and the only thing I will order.

Since opening in late 2020, we’ve been 4 times. All but the last time have been fantastic. When we went this past October, we sat down at 8pm, ordered by 8:30, but didn’t receive our entrees until 10:30, and we were 1 of 3 tables in there. Food was great (wife got some type of fish in a parchment pillow, I got the pork tenderloin which was very tasty and tender), but the wait really turned us off.

They have a very limited menu. Their bread and butter they serve is some of the best (butter imported from France), and the ambience is unmatched. If you can secure a table by the hearth during the winter, or outside table during the spring or fall, it is truly a memorable dining experience. It’s probably gonna be another year for us until we return because of our last experience.

Good to hear. The food is decent there, but the main dining room has the worst Feng-shui in all of Lafayette restaurants. It's like a school cafeteria.

Charley G's would be top of my list. I do like Vestal too, would just rather not be downtown.

Mazen's is still very good, especially for fish dishes. Went with a party of 12 for a friend's 50th b-day in November and not one complaint.

Charlie G's is always SOLID and their smoked duck and andouille gumbo may be the best in Lafayette

Pretty sure you & the Mrs. went to Cafe Sydnie Mae in Breaux Bridge last year. Unless you want a new dining experience, I'd consider it again. Keep us posted and have a great dinner

Been a few times. The food is good. If you like salmon, they have probably the best salmon filet in town, meaning it is cooked perfect (medium) with great natural flavor and not overly-sauced/overly-glazed like other restaurants.

I forget what my wife orders, but she is always pleased eating there.

They have a good wine selection and the cocktails are good.

Yes, we went twice last year. Wonderful meals both times. My wife wants to bring our 4 kids (3 under 7) to Cafe Sydnie Mae in the next month or 2 so they can experience it…please send prayers, lol.
