Looks like we are finally getting Korean BBQ:

The former Walgreens at the corner of Staring Lane and Perkins Road has been sold for $2.8 million to a Lafayette investment group that plans to open a hot pot and Korean barbecue restaurant. Advocate

This appears to be a different group than the one that wanted to open Korean BBQ on Essen at the old Copeland’s.

Great news. I wonder if it’ll be by items or all you can eat.

That's great. Is Volcano still open?

I don't sub to the Advocate and they hit you with that pop-up immediately now, but found another article (that was probably copy/pasted.)

quote:

The Lafayette-based investment group's partnership with the owners of Surfing Crab and Umiya Sushi in Texas brings a wealth of restaurant management experience to the table, ensuring the success of this venture.

Looks like Surfing Crab is a TX boiled seafood place, and Umiya Sushi is an AYCE sushi place like Sushi Masa.

If they're paying $2.8M for a place, then Essen and Staring is dumb - horrible to get in and out of. Spend that much and get the old CVS on the corner of Gov't and Acadian - much bigger lot, more parking, somewhat easier to get in and out of, and it's in Mid-City.

Yeah that location is a head scratcher. On paper looks like it would be a great location, but it has very limited access due to all the traffic at the intersection.

And then the parking lot is not really big enough for a restaurant.

I’m guessing that’s why it’s an out-of-town group that’s opening there. They probably didn’t know any better.

Still, I hope they do well. We definitely need a good Korean place.
