If you are staying near the Plaza, go to Classic Cup in the morning for breakfast and a nice french press coffee.

Lived there 2.5 years. My go to was not BBQ although BBQ is good there.

Try
- Longboards wraps (619 wrap is my go to)
- Grinders Pizza (made it own multiple food shows)
- Beer Kitchen in Westport (bacon beer is good and the food is better last time i was there)
- BBQ(jack stack or OK joe's)

Whoever said LCs, Joes, and Q39 for BBQ was on point. I like Jack Stack as well, but Q39 is my current jam for KC Q.

Beer Kitchen is good as someone else said.
Le Fou Frog is supposedly awesome if you want french cuisine.
Blue Bird Bistro is good for brunch, and I really like the area it's in as far as the houses there. Some incredible modern renovations.

I'll dump some others from another board:

Go to Andre's before they close at 9! Chocolate heaven! Main street location is best, and their lunch is awesome, too.

I'm also a fan of this place. I prefer it to Beer Kitchen. It's close to OP.

So is this El Salvadorean place:

Your wife would really like this Pig&Finch place. The espresso rubbed pork shoulder is to die for.

There's a secret cocktail bar in the basement of the Reiger hotel called Manifesto. Cocktails are great and the whole place is let by candles and cell phones out are highly discouraged. You have to text to get a reservation time (gives the vibe of an old hidden speakeasy)

Manifesto is a small 48 seat cocktail bar that takes a labor-intensive approach to making drinks with only the finest spirits and freshest ingredients. We strive to provide to highest level of hospitality by taking reservations for drinks 6 nights a week.

Call or text message 816.536.1325 to reserve a table for 4 or more. We also reserve a limited number of seats at the bar for parties of 2. Once full, we run a wait list on a first come, first served basis and by taking a cell phone number and calling when your table is ready.

BRGR is maybe 5 min from our house...we go there all the time, their burgers are pretty damn good and they have a decent beer selection.

Pig and Finch is good as well, has good food and decent beer and great whiskey selection.

After spending a week there and eating a couple of the places twice and also eating BBQ sometimes for lunch and dinner, I'd say the place Slap's across the river is hands down the best. Their BBQ Sauce is easily the best with a kick..

I'd probably go with Joe's 2nd

The Riot room would have been awesome if I was still 21.

But my favorite drinking spot with young professional type crowd was a place called Harpo's in Westport neighborhood. The 15 cups of draft for $15 is clutch, and you don't even have to be playing beer pong.

Also in old Westport, Char bar had some damn good burnt ends... Buzzard beach was interesting one evening. And Ernie Biggs dueling pianos wasn't a bad time.
