I really liked the old Beausoleil. Haven’t been in while. What’s better about the “new” version and when did they reopen?

I'll just say you can't seem to go wrong with anything on the menu. We went for a tasting menu on New Years Eve and then for dinner about a month later. The scallop small plate was delicious and my 5-spiced duck with foie gras risotto was insanely tasty.

Add to that the great service and real attention to detail in the food, it's a place transformed.

Only caution is it is very $$$ and there are so many good-looking items your eyes will definitely be bigger than your stomach.

but most of the players are mediocre at best....

Please name the mediocre players.

Places like Eliza, Beausoleil, Chow Yum Phat, Elsie's Plate & Pie, Umami, etc are miles from mediocre.

They opened sometime last year, I believe. And the new part is they are more seafood-centered and are doing tons of tasting menus and themed meals.

I like the old Beausoleil for a little while but found the food to be very tired.
