My dad has one of those smokers that he uses when he's feeling lazy and it works pretty good. About the only complaint he has is you can't put large cuts of meat in it. Does great on ribs, chicken or fish.

I have an older Masterbuilt 30 inch smoker that is dead. I looked into the newer model and it seems the chip tray is tiny and flimsy crap. Are the 30 inch smokers still of decent quality or has it declined?

They are good. Not the best smoke, but for someone that doesn't like building fires they are perfect. I'm a fire builder type. My dad is not. That's what I got him for christmas 7 years ago or so.

I did have a friend that had one and it shorted out and almost burned down his house. I think part of that was his fault for not cleaning it(grease fire). He used it 2 times a week for 2 years too so prolly not good to compare his situation.
