If you're trying to save time they can be alright. Just don't use water only to rehydrate them. Heavy cream, chicken stock, good butter, etc can go a long way to flavor something.

We've found they can be a one container gets dirty thing when we followed the directions for microwaving them. And we join the Shepherds Pie topped with instant mashed potatoes club.

I like the Bob Evans potatoes as others have mentioned. I've never had any of the flakes that I enjoyed.

They are fantastic and probably the most underrated food product of all time. And yes, I doctor them up most of the time.

Perfect for little potato fritters, puffs, and work great for meatball fillers.

I’m going to try to them for potato cakes. I don’t eat mashed potatoes often. Rarely.

Mainly because I usually try to limit carbs, with some exceptions on the weekend.

But before that, a nice bowl of either mashed potatoes (instant) or grits, with all kinds of stuff added in would be delish.

Do you have kids? Because there's always a time and place for instant mashed potatoes when you have young kids.

I’ve had real homemade mashed potatoes often in my life

And none have tasted any better than all the flavors of the below. I tried to lie to myself for years and say homemade was better, but I can’t lie anymore

Bob Evans without question.

These are pretty good.

I have no problem with instant potatoes, but I grew up eating them. My mom was an ER nurse so always kept them around to make a quick meal after a 12 hour shift. So they are just something I've always been used to eating.

I'm not a big lunch eater, but still keep the little cups around if I want a quick bit. Same with Easy Mac.
