Did IPO close? If so, do the owners own another restaurant/s in Baton Rouge?

Yep. Shut it's doors.
Don't know future plans

But downtown BR is booming. I just don't understand.

It wasn't a good place by any means, but you're right about downtown. Is it just me or has the downtown Baton Rouge hype died down a bit?

I agree .....they need to block off third street on the weekends and let people walk around and make baton Rouge less BORING...

The reality of downtown ain't bad. But there are few reasons to head downtown at night, and fewer reasons to go back if you already went, but I digest.
I'm amazed they kept Restaurant IPO going for so long. They've been on Groupon forever. Pretty much only troubled restaurants use Groupon. If it weren't for the initial hype of the place, and pumping up of the chef by media, it would have been gone fairly quick.
But if you liked IPO, there's always Goûter on Government St. Seems very similar to me. Not surprising since it's the same chef from IPO's good ol' days.

What about the bar that is/was upstairs? And the bar next door on the corner are they closed as well?

Making room for another Walk-On's

Worst restaurant name ever? Maybe top 3?
Need apartments down there. It's like a ghost town.

It wasn't very good?
I work downtown and had stopped going a long time ago. If I want something downtown, I'll go to Blend or Tsunami. If I want what IPO claimed to be, I go down Government to Gouter.
With that said, I second the later poster who said that downtown needs far more residential. Lots of people want to move downtown, myself included, but either can't afford, or simply can't justify, current rents. When you still have buildings charging over $2,000/mo for a two bedroom apartment, you have too much pressure on the demand side of the market.

How preposterous is that??

Appears sarcastic, so I'll answer that in Baton Rouge, quite

That last one ok. Those first 2, lol. You've been open for 4 years. Curfew was 1 weekend and unless you had water in the place, I don't see the storm being the nail in the coffin.

IPO was like a lot of places downtown that just don't want to win. Instead of trying to reach out and create customers from the greater Baton Rouge area they rely on just being downtown and hope enough people walk that are interested in what they have to offer.
Off the top of my head, I don't know why the businesses don't broadcast that downtown street parking is free after 6PM (and honestly not enforced outside of weekday lunch hours, but I understand why they can't say that publicly). In 9 years in Baton Rouge I've rarely paid for parking anytime I've gone out in downtown, never getting my car broken into or parking any farther out than 5th St. Yet, I've heard plenty of people complain about paying for parking in downtown BR.
Parking and access is not an excuse. Rum House/Olive-or-Twist are still killing it with challenging parking situations. Parking and access are also easier downtown than at North Gate/Chimes or Perkins Rd. Overpass which are also doing fine.
The businesses need to work together to create the 24/7 feel they want - yet they do nothing. As it stands Monday-Friday lunch crowds and Friday/Saturday evening bar hopping crowds are fairly healthy, the rest of the times need some work. There has been no attempt (as far as I can tell) to surgically target the gaps. Saturday/Sunday day drinkers and happy hour types are the next two groups to go after IMO.

Agree with you, this seemed a bizarre set of excuses.
