In Spain tapas is what you do before dinner. They sit at a tapas bar and order like five or six different things and drink. Then they go out to eat at like 11:00pm. You wouldn't mind it all.

I've never been to Spain, but have no doubt I would love that concept there.

The way this "tapas" trend/fad has been adopted stateside, though -- not really so much.

I agree. There it is a lifestyle, here it is a trend.

Yes, but I would love a tapas in the neighborhood to go after work every now and then and just unwind with some good wine and nibbles. Trouble with it here is that most people want their belly to explode. When they think of drinking and food it's usually beer and peanuts or beer and hot wings. We could stand to raise the bar just a wee bit, don't you think?

I used to live in Madrid for a few years. Indeed, tapas is a very different concept over there. Oh well. You take what you can get.
