I'm actually looking for a solid bottle of whiskey to bring on vacation next week. Was about to go to calandros and try and decide, but would be interested in that one

- Nope, in BR. Guessing that would be an issue because I can't make it to NOLA before leaving on Saturday.

for $70 it needs to be their own product. Have they started using their own whiskey yet or are they still using bought recipes from that massive distillery in Indiana or wherever?
I've had some of their stuff before and it's good, but I'm not paying craft prices for something they just put in barrels.

Agreed that it better be a damn good whiskey for me to spend $70 on it. Everything from High West I have had has been good but nothing that made me go out to look for it specifically

I'm okay with spending $70 on something that is made by them. But, it needs to be distilled, barreled and aged by them. Not a recipe bought from that big distillery and then you pop it in some barrels for a couple years and call it yours.

I understand that if you are a young distillery you have to make money.... But don't try to sell me a $70 bottle of whiskey as craft and it's not your whiskey/recipe.
