Ok. Decided on Beausoleil and made reservations today. We will probably be ordering the short rib as one of the entree's. Haven't decided on anything else yet.
Jacmel Inn definitely sounds interesting and I will have to keep them in mind in the future but the schedule doesn't allow for it this year.

I really enjoyed Beausoleil but you saying she likes simple stuff makes me think this is NOT the place for her.
Small plates, I guess you could stick with boudin balls or fried eggplant. The soups are all "safe".
If her favorite salad is iceberg lettuce, shredded chedder cheese and bacos with ranch...she might not like the salads.
The Short rib, ribeye or shrimp and grits would probably be safe bets unless words like "milanase, orzo, andouille gravy, satin potatoes, and madeira rosemary sauce" freak her out.

For the future, I second Nino's and would also suggest Gino's if you haven't been there together, based on your description. Huge menu and will surely have something of interest to her.
