Go to the Enoteca La Fortezza Montalcino website. Send an email asking for recs on 2019 Brunello’s. They were just released, as Brunello’s must be aged 5 years. 2019 was a 5 star vintage

Get several cases and have a few but let most age. Just got a case from there today

I'm a fan of Tuscans and Bordeauxs

That being said, if I was just starting I would buy a few bottles of Giovanni's Tuscan Reserve from Del Dotto Winerey in Napa. The 2018 vintage of that one is outstanding.

What percentage of the cellar do you want to devote to wines that can age? How many bottles do you have currently and how many are you looking at for an initial purchase? How do you foresee devoting space to different countries and regions?

I'm a little envious. Filling that cellar, while expensive, would be a fun project over time.

I would say at least 1/3 will be for cellaring.

I'm not sure the exact count, but I think I have around 250 right now.

The past few weeks I have been going to my local spot (Acquistapaces in Mandeville) and getting a case at a time. I have been going by region and just going down the isle and grabbing bottles.

When our old house sells I am going to reward myself with a large haul - probably 10-20 cases.

I am still not exactly sure how I will ultimately have it arranged. For now, I have a large section for Californian cabs (most of my collection), a couple rows for south American, a couple rows for Spanish.

I'm just not sure how specific to get. It's overwhelming, but yes very fun.

You have the right attitude. Despite the potential size of the collection it’s a journey, not a race.

Fantastic list. La Rioja Alta is amazing. We visited the winery several years ago touring Rioja

Very jealous of that wine cellar
