Yeah, I have cooked flat irons before. I may run to rouses after while and see if I can find one. If so, I will cook it and post pics. Thanks for all of the help guys.

I want to say they're around $6.99/lb at Whole Foods. Not too bad a price (considering their baby backs are $9.49/lb). Each steak comes to around six bucks. You gotta beat me to Whole Foods though because I buy em out every time I see them.

ETA: They're $10.99 at Whole Foods

How many pounds is a typical hanger? Do you ever cut them into little filets as opposed cooking the whole thing?

Whole Foods does a nice job at butchering them. They're already in nice portioned strips, so you don't have to do anything with the whole lobe. Not sure what an original hanger weighs, but these are portioned to I'm guessing around 8+ oz.

All meat is more tender when cut against the grain, but hanger steaks are particularly sensitive to this.

Here's a pic of one of my previous hanger steaks, which got down voted and ridiculed to no end for the style of preparation.

I also misspoke earlier because hangers are $10.99 at Whole Foods, bringing each 8oz steak to around six bucks each.

Vary in size...I've had anywhere from 8oz to almost 16oz per steak...just guessing because I buy them in bulk. It just depends on how many are in the package that I get.

Still bought em out.
