If I had to guess, money. Or lack thereof.

They always seemed to try too hard to be edgy. Just make good food and charge fair prices and you can print money in Old Mandeville.

IMO the change in ownership/service did it in. It used to be my favorite spot and we were regulars. They had some great servers and the food was excellent.

After the change, the service got pretty bad. There were a couple ladies there that were still great but ordering at the front then waiting on your food never seemed to make sense and the wait staff seemed lazy. There were other times where food took forever and chicken would be bloody in the middle or the cocktail of the day was rancid “fresh” juice sent back then came back to the table with an excuse that it tasted fine and somehow still showed up on the bill. We quit going a couple months back and have not found a regular spot since.

I’m also noticing the same thing at McLains. Menu keeps getting downsized, prices are insane, and service is no longer a priority.

Originally owners sold and new owner didn’t have the passion.

Their food early on was fantastic but their pricing and style of food didn’t have a wide enough audience in Mandeville

Shame because their fried boudin app with the crawfish boil cheese and pepper jelly was one of the best thing I’ve ever eaten

I go regularly. Never looked at their menu. Just order my cheese pizza. Always good and McLain chats me up with good service.

Honestly surprised it's stayed open this long. I drive by there every single day and it's always a ghost town, no matter what time I go by. It's sad, I've had some great meals from there.

Nothing ever lasts long in Mandeville.

Its a restaurant graveyard.

Noticed this too. And its so damn hot in there to try to have a nice meal in the summer.

2 choices- sit inside and sweat, or sit outside and bake

The bold is exactly what went wrong. They overcharge for what they serve, and the food just wasn't that good. I do hate seeing local businesses fail. I give props out to the owners for the way they handled closing though. They did give their employees fair warning and heads up this was coming from what I was told, unlike the assholes of Felix and Sucre that screwed their people over.

I didn't know that Luke Hidalgo sold the place. He was a talented chef. He did our Chef's Table at Commanders and it was incredible. Curious to know where he wound up.

Outside of the occasional happy meal for the kids, I don't think we spend any money on chain restaurants in Mandeville. Stop being such a douchebag
