Going to be upgrading from a Weber kettle which I do still like. Option 1: Weber gas grill + smoker. Option 2: A Kamado style grill. What do y'all think?

One Primo Oval XL, IMO. Although, if you have the space for a really nice Weber gas grill and a legit smoker, that would be a solid setup. I just personally prefer regular grilling with lump charcoal rather than gas.

I like charcoal too. I just like the convenience of gas.

Big Green Egg is the way to go. I still kept my Viking grill for quick things like dogs and burgers but go to my Egg with anything I have the time for. Steaks are phenomenal. We grill pizza on it all the time and I can control the temp so well to smoke ribs and brisket that they can go on all night without checking.
only negative at all is it takes about an hour to get burning and the coals to set. Good news is that gives me an excuse to drink a few beers while "managing" that and I don't have to deal with the kids.

I have a large oval primo for when I want to smoke or charcoal grill and a 5 burner blaze for gas and both smaller and larger quantities.

Ive got a BGE and like it but also have weber kettles and smokers.... The BGE puts out some good food whether it be hot and fast or low and slow. Id still like to have a nice offset stick burner. Just cant replicate the taste from one with a kamado style

Does the Kamado give a good smoke flavor like a regular smoker?

You get a good smokey flavor, especially if you supplement the charcoal with some wood chunks, but it's different than an all wood offset cook. I like both, although I'd say all wood is my preference when it comes to smoked meats. I still went kamado because of the versatility.

I plan on doing a Primo. May end up getting a gas grill as well but haven't decided for sure.
