The best experience at Bern's is with a larger group and to get the largest cut of meat they have. Not only is it cheaper, the larger cuts are much better. They carve it for you and bring it out.
But for just the two of you, I definitely recommend sharing a single cut that you think is adequate for the two of you.
When I went (group of 20), I really enjoyed the Chateaubriand and the Strip Sirloin. Would recommend the Chateaubriand.
I absolutely also recommend asking for a tour of the wine cellar. It is INCREDIBLE.
Also try to save room for dessert. They take you to another floor that is like being in another restaurant.

Wife doesn't eat meat, but I don't want to talk about that...it gets me upset.ha but I digress....
That's exactly the cut I was thinking. I can throw down some Steak, and I don't know if I will ever go back....so I figure go big or go home!
And yes, we will def do the wine cellar and desert place as well!!
Thanks.

Honestly you may be wasting your time a bit. This is a steakhouse to end all steakhouses. One of the best I've ever been in. In fact, probably the best.
I can't imagine that they have a large variety of vegetarian dishes. Not that I looked.
Tampa has a lot of very good places.

Went recently. Went with the waiter's recommendation. Food was pretty damn good. But I still think the west tampa sandwich shop has the best food in the entire area (at 1/8th of the price)

I've had em all.
Chateaubriand around 20-24 oz. is best.
Great caviar tasting.
Upstairs order the hazelnut ice cream & Malmsey flight.

You're in for quite an experience. Prepare to spend the evening in a restaurant decorated in a 'modern brothel' theme, but with solid food and one of the best winelists in the world. Enjoy it and please let us know how it is!

They have a glass tank full of live TROUT with numbers on them ! You tell them what number you want to eat and watch them get it out, LIVE ! They grow ALL their own greens also. Best restaurant Ive ever been to. Get a tour of the kitchen, it will blow you away.

They have a lot of seafood options if your wife eats seafood. Ask the waiter, last time he recommended the bone in ribeye cut from the end. Its a fun experience and very reasonably priced for a nice steakhouse. Your steak comes with soup, salad, onion strips, and baked potato so keep this in mind when ordering apps.
Enjoy

I live in Tampa and love to experience the many wonderful restaurants here. Besides Bern's which is awesome, try J. Alexander's Restaurant...wonderful prime rib and their grilled artichokes are to die for.
