The Lonesome Dove near the Stockyards is very good.

Casual/Patio:
Fred's on Currie
Joe T Garcia's
Rodeo Goat
Pouring Glory
Bearded Lady
Reata Rooftop
Remember that you're in Fort Worth--most everything is casual. Enjoy!

Open pit style BBQ is awesome. There are several of these around town but this is the best: LINK /

I mentioned it in another thread you posted but Woodshed Smokehouse is a must hit. Outstanding BBQ, extensive craft beer and drink list and overall one of the best restaurant atmospheres in FTW.

Second Woodshed and pretty much everything else mentioned.
Stockyards is fun with good restaurants but will be hot this weekend.
Also Press Cafe is newer, great drinks, simple food and on the river outside of town.
Plenty of steakhouses on Main St. in downtown. If you want seafood try Waters in the West 7th Area.
If you want wine try Winslow's Cafe or Times Ten Cellars in the West 7th area as well. Texas grown Spanish varietals and they do wood fired pizzas on Fridays.
For Mexican try Gloria's, La Familla or Miraposas.
For quick tacos do Velvet Taco or Torchies.
Enjoy your stay.

west 7th and sundance are awesome areas now. they've done a great job
13 pies is a great fun happy hour good food joint.
much better mexican than Joe T garcias. not worth the wait and its average.
go to Mercado Juarez or Los Asaderos if you're over by the stockyards and you want mexican.
Have fun- great city

This is actually correct. Changed the name in the last six months or so. I know because I lost a bet with Mrs Crickets on this very important topic.

Thread somewhat hijack: We will be there this Saturday, taking the kids to see the cattle drive in the morning before we head back down south to Katy. Basically making a long way stop going from McKinney to Katy.
What's a good, somewhat quick place for lunch around the stockyards? Kids will be with us.

Did woodshed and cooper's. Both were fantastic. Thanks for the recommendations.

Any of the bbq places should work. Kids would probably like Billy Bobs.

The traditional BBQ places on Ft Worth are meh. Woodshed is a good place to check out, though.
Fort Worth has a disappointing food scene for a town its size.
