Heard on good authority that The Jambalaya Shoppe is going there.

Hopefully that one will relocate and something better will move in.

But it's closer to my house than the strip malls.

He will keep the Perkins Jam Shoppe open, but with a more limited menu. It's edible jambalaya but nothing special. You want really bad jambalaya? Try those benefit dinner ones. I now just donate the money and give them some excuse for me to not take the jam.

I think the cheeburger location will start out pretty good for the jam shoppe but the food is just not good enough to make people rush back. rent has got to be pretty high.

What they pass off as jambalaya is a disgrace. Parboiled rice, kitchen bouquet, cheap sausage etc.

From their website homepage: COMING SOON TO HOUMA, LAFAYETTE, & SIEGEN LANE, BATON ROUGE!

The lunch scene is getting pretty competitive on/off seigen. I think they will be successful, though.

thought I was the only one who didn't think their food was good. Coworkers love it. I don't care for it.

It's hit or miss with their jam, pasta jam & gumbo. Sometimes they're all pretty tasty. They do a good job with their chicken stew dinner over rice on whatever day they serve it.

was it the giant Jambalaya Shoppe sign that they put up that tipped you off?

Thought it was already there?

I bought jambalaya from there JS in Gonzales once. It was like fundraising jambalaya, a pound of sausage, an onion and 50 lbs of rice. Greasy too.

Man y'all are going to the wrong fundraisers. I try to find any Ascension Parish plant fundraiser. Those boys can cook. Or the Exxon gang.
Y'all must be hitting the Glen Oaks Middle PTA one.

I didn't know that. I told Chet (the guy who runs it) that he would have to develop an entirely new client base because 90% of his walk-in/lunch customers (including me) would not want to deal with the parking in that shopping center. Especially at lunch time. Most of the people that eat @ Perkins are just popping in for a quick inexpensive lunch.
And, yes, they are hit and miss. But it's not bad for the most part.
I hope they do well at the new location.
