I think I see what you did there

Been as busy as a 3 peckered rabbit these days with trying to get up to speed with the new job. Hit a big milestone this week and things should start to calm down and I should get back into my normal "work routine" soon.

NBD, yet, but in honor of IPA day, I will have a Carton 0077XX vs. Block 15 Sticky Hands side-by-side tasting after work and after my tennis game later. Y'all will probably be in bed by then, so I wanted to let you know it was happening.

Can't wait to try the Carton beer.

Oh yeah! I know I am missing lots of good ones with the local Krewe tonight, but I am going be celebrating here in FL. My daughter's boyfriend is with us, so I have a drinking buddy.

Between the day drinking and the beach activities, I've been compelled to hit the rack way early down here.

Is he a maven? If not, he will be soon, if he hangs out with you enough...

Maven in training. He's only 21, but he's starting to get it.

Or he could be just saying the right things to you in order to keep from getting shot...

He's a nice kid and I like him, but of course there could be some of this going on!

The last couple of years I've been sending my daughter back to school with boxes of beer for him and his buddies to try-- Envie, Southern Tier Live and other relatively mild ales. Well, they've now caught the IPA bug. He's moved on from Shiner, which is a good sign. I am trying to teach him stuff without being overly didactic.

I'm doing the same with my oldest son. I have mixed feelings about this, because now he will come home and drink my beer.

Me: "What happened to my Heady Topper?"

Him: "I drank it. What, was I not supposed to drink it?"

Me: "Hell, no! Why do you think I had it wrapped in bubble wrap and hidden inside the watermelon?"

Him: "I thought that was kind of weird. I mixed it with some Sam Adams and it tasted pretty good."

On the positive side, he is liking IPAs and is perfectly willing to drink my old, malty 3-Ways.
