They have a brewery in Grayton Beach? Love that place. While I lived in Jax, we would go for a week every summer...

There is, but the beer is just OK. The pale wasn't bad. I've had the IPA and Blonde as well. Cool to be able to drink local stuff though.

They let y'all bring all those in or did you sneak em? Saw y'all were on the back patio, right? I brought in a bomber once but asked the bartender and gave him a taste, obviously - hopefully you trash did the same.

Just found out our buddies bought us tickets to this beer festival next weekend near Breckinridge. Looks pretty legit. Ed Fest

frick no. Bartender was a Bama fan douche. We snuck it to the back. Wouldn't ever share my beer with him though. Dick.

NBD - Breakside's Head High. Very nice IPA by Breakside. It held up very well in the growler for a week.

Breakside sure can brew a good IPA...

Don't laugh too hard. It's the next big thing. A cider only brew pub just opened in dallas.

I like to drink ONE as soon as I finish mowing the grass. Quenches my thirst better than a beer when I'm hot. No way could I drink more than one though.

Ciders are big in Portland. Not as big as beer, but there are a bunch of cider brewers here. Lots of cider fruits are grown here.

Here are the ciders they have on tap....

Cideways - this one is for the beer knurds. It is a citrusy cider with a subtle hop character. Infused with Cascade hops and lemon grass. ABV: 9.5
Cat Scratch Fever - Yeah, we like to try new things. This cider is infused with catnip and jalapeños. It's on the mild side, but very flavorful. ABV: 8.5
Suicider - Like a suicide fountain drink, only this one tastes better. We’ve combined just the perfect amount of many different spices, including cloves, all spice, and cinnamon. ABV 8.0

Not your daddy's ciders.

Not sure why this made me laugh.

Go ahead and bookmark this thread for reference. Can't wait for ciders to be "cool" in a few months.

This was brought up tonight. I'm not laughing at cider being a trend in the market, or breweries trending towards sours as opposed to hop bombs (a la wiltz's mentioning). I'm laughing at, well, you know. Watch the video. I believe Jax has posted before about cider getting a lot of local support. I can see it happening, and I'm not opposed to it. I'll try it; if it appeals to my palate, I'll drink it. In LA we will be about 2 years behind the curve, though.

Agreed. I was just having fun. I would like to go up to NJ and try more beers fresh. I think it would be even better. My experience with growlers is that the beer does degrade if it's not consumed right away.

I sent two growlers down to BR, once upon a time. One was a regular growler filled with Hop Venom and the other was filled with Crux Half-Hitch in a counter pressure filled growler - where they force the oxygen out of the bottle with carbon dioxide so that the beer doesn't oxidize. This keeps the beer fresher longer.

Everyone thought that the Half Hitch was clearly the better beer. I would maintain that if the same people tried the beers fresh from the tap, the results would be reversed.
