Eating and Staying in the Italian Riviera

I will be in Monaco for a wedding in Late April. While near there, I'd like to visit the Italian Riviera and will have about 5 days to spend there. Can anyone give me some tips on this area as far as eating. Also need suggestions on where to stay--Cinque Terra, Portofino, etc. and which hotels on a moderate budget?

Make sure you check out Eze, near Monaco. It can be part of a drive day, but it's worth it.

Those castle ruins on top of the 'city' are part of a succulent garden that starts down the hill a bit. Check out the landscaped trail in bottom right of this image as well. It all looks out on this shite...
We didn't really research it properly, just drove there one day from Cannes. Wish we had checked it out a bit more, but it's tiny so I don't think a proper day is in order. One seriously beautiful place...
ETA: I found some carpaccio down in the town as well. Most places do it as salad, well the salad is placed directly ontop the raw beef as a lunch item at least. I just ate them separately. They run an exotic car rental out of Eze too, insane roads and expensive cars...

Went to Vernazza back in June...would highly recommend going, especially since you are going before the height of tourist season.
Thanks to Rick Steves and others, it's become much more popular in the last few years, especially after the mudslide in October 2011. Everything is back to normal, though other minor issues may close some of the walking paths from town to town in the Cinque Terre.
We ate at Ristorante Belforte one night, which overlooks the harbor and was excellent. I forget the name of the other place, but it was great too...
Highly recommend a trip to the Cinque Terre...

Cinque Terre was awesome, but the meals we had there were somewhat forgettable. Or maybe is was the copious amounts of Chianti... The food in Genoa on the other hand was fantastic. Delicious and very fresh seafood meals there, as well as utterly amazing fresh fruit from the open markets. Best strawberries I've ever had (was there in mid-May). That's what blew me away about the food in Italy - just the freshness of everything.
