Could use some guidance for dinner out on Easter Sunday. Looking to stay in short walking distance of the residential side of the French Quarter. I know the parades will have wrapped by early evening but just want to stay near home.

I realize it is a tricky night to go out but thought we'd give it another shot.

In years past we've done Galatoire's on Easter Sunday - dined upstairs and felt like we were intruding on family gathering and another time at Galvez - and have no shock that it has since closed.

Not a particular fan of Tableau, Tujague's or Muriel's (though I think I may need to give Muriel's another chance).

Just going to be two of us so no worries about group size.

Was thinking of Brennan's or Doris Metropolitan. I'm a bit hesitant about Doris Metropolitan because my wife has strong aversion to the smell of truffle oil and this seems to be in quite a few of their preparations.

Thoughts - other suggestions?

Had Easter lunch at Restaurant R'evolution. Delicious. Highly recommend it.

I've done brunch/lunch at Arnaud's on Easter on multiple occasions. I always enjoy it...oysters Arnaud!

Muriel's was not good for Easter lunch. Limited selection, packed, service issues, food wasn't very good, though all the other meals I've had there have been fine. Not outstanding, but above average.

Tujague's was terrible on Easter night a few years ago.

We've done the chef's table at Emeril's twice on Easter Sunday evening. Really great and fun. I know it's not in your area of desire, but it was worth it.

We go to the French Quarter often on Easter Sunday and usually end up at Antoine's, Arnaud's or Galatoire's. You need reservations at the first two. Galatoire's does not take them for downstairs and that is the only place we like to sit. All three are very festive that day. I would rank them as follows: 1.Galatoire's 2.Arnaud's 3.Antoine's.

I would avoid Tableau. Went Saturday and it was a disaster. Dickie needs to get in there soon and right that ship.

That said, Palace Cafe was pretty good a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I do love Irene's but given it can be a $%*! show on an average night with reservations I'm not sure I'm ready to roll the dice on Easter Sunday.

Tableau - I agree, Dickie needs to take a long hard look. Service there - even at the bar is horrendous. Seems like they are only trying for the one off tourist trade.

Mr. B's...I do like it - was wondering if others have weathered a holiday there.

R'Evolution - I just don't get it. It's got a great pedigree but something just seems off. Might have to give it another go but it won't be on Easter Sunday.

Palace Cafe - haven't been since the renovation. Been a might curious about the new rum bar...something to consider.

Bayona - it's a personal favorite for lunch. Has anyone done a holiday meal there?

Antoine's - love the space. The food and service however...

Arnaud's - perhaps. Certainly more on point than some of the other grand dame's in recent years. Again - has anyone been to a recent holiday meal there?

I realize that the new Brennan's hasn't been around long enough to have a proper track record - but has anyone here sampled a few dinners, even if it wasn't a holiday event? Thinking they may still be trying harder at this point in the re-birth.

I was with a big group (14) at Arnaud's for lunch on Lundi Gras. It was festive, a full house. They do a great job with large parties Service was on point, food was decent - nothing amazing, but well prepared. No complaints.

Andy Garcia was at the next table- with a similar sized group as was most of the main room.

You sit at a table in the kitchen. The chef comes up and chats and asks if you have any special requests. Everyone doesn't even have to order the chef's meal. One year, one or two people at the table ordered from the menu, I think. I believe there were about 6 or so courses plus they bring you every dessert they have as I recall. It was fun to be able to watch all the line cooks and the chef running things. Chef was personable. I don't know the cost. I wasn't paying and didn't pay any attention to it. I set it up, but I didn't ask the cost. We didn't have wine pairings. Some had cocktails and some had wine.

Sweet. I had forgotten that they had a true chefs table like that at Emerils. We did one at Commanders last year and it blew my mind. Best meal ever by far.

Is there a set number of people that have to reserve the table? Commanders requires four.

Emeril's is not at the same level as Commander's, but is excellent. I don't think there is a required number because I saw a table of 2 in there one time. We had 4 both times. I'm not sure how often it's done because I know we got it on Easter Sunday night at least once fairly last minute like 2 weeks away, maybe, so it was available. The other time, I think it may have been 6 weeks away.

Go hungry. The servings were generous. We'd had lunch somewhere on one of the days and had a hard time finishing the courses.

I have dined at the chef's table at Commander's twice. This may be the best meal I ever had in the U.S. They offer a slightly scaled down version of it in the main dining room and call it the chef's playground menu. Actually the written menus are the same but they bring you extra bells and whistles at the chef's table.

And to answer the question about recent holiday meals at Arnaud's, I have been there several times in recent years for Easter, Valentines night and also for NOWFE dinners. They always do a good job. They usually have a jazz bands either walking around or set up in the back room. They usually have a special menu at a set price, but it is always very good. I would recommend it.

Bayona's is very good for lunch.

Irene's is not nearly as good as it usr to be. Tommy's is more like Irene's use to be
