When Chef Ryan Hildebrand closed Triniti Restaurant last year, many wondered what would become of the spot’s gorgeous space on Shepherd Road. Now, the building has an exciting new tenant.

The Houston Chronicle reports that New Orleans steakhouse Doris Metropolitan will set up shop in the stunning space at 2815 Shepherd later this year. According to Eater New Orleans, the restaurant first opened in the French Quarter in 2013, joining an outpost of the swanky steakhouse in Costa Rica that’s been open since 2010.

In Crescent City, Doris Metropolitan is known for its Israeli-inspired steakhouse fare and dry-aged Prime beef. Japanese A5 wagyu is also featured on the menu, along with Gulf fish and lamb chops. In New Orleans, the restaurant also grows much of its own vegetables, but it’s unclear whether or not the garden will be replicated in Houston.

Doris Metropolitan is expected to make its debut in “late 2017.” If this news induces a craving for top-notch beef, check out the city’s best options for enjoying a killer steak that you can actually eat tonight.

Big for Houston. Might be the best steakhouse in NOLA if you don't mind the non-traditional sides.

It is definitely damn good. I like Mr. John's a lot too but I won't argue with someone who prefers Doris.

Further proof that sous vide for steaks is the best way to cook ...

Meh.

We've got enough steakhouses in this fricking city.

Tell Link to open an outpost here.

You're bringing a steakhouse to a city filled with steakhouses...I don't understand how this is big.

The menu's look very similar in style, other than Doris offering the A-5 Wagyu. Are the locations in the same area?

Pretty close.

1/5 is only around until July 31. Then he'll move on to something else...Spainish and Italian or something.

Roughly, 1/5 is in montrose then other is on the boarder between upper Kirby and montrose.

Within a short ride of each other for sure

I agree with Offshore. This city has enough great steakhouses. That said, I'll still try it.

I went to One Fifth last month. The apps and raw bar were great. I'd recommend the country Ham and lump crab. The sides were good, but can't remember anything jumping out.

We shared the long bone ribeye and I wouldn't recommend it. While the char and seasoning were great, the steak's size and the bone made it difficult to get a consistent temp on the inside. Close to the bone it was a nice medium rare, but at the edge it was a medium to medium well. I would definitely get a different steak next time.

I want to go with a bigger group next time to try their tower plates.

While we're talking steaks, I still think the most underrated steak in Houston is the 32oz ribeye for 2 at Pax.
