Does beer's alcohol content really vary by state?

I heard this before. I had friends who would take their beer from LA to FL because supposedly LA has more alcohol. Do any of you know for certain that this is the case?

TIA

Some states have a limit of the alc. content of beer. Oklahoma is an example. You can only buy 3.2 ABW beer (4% abv)in grocery stores, gas stations etc. You can buy stronger beer in bars and liquor stores.

While that might be true for MS (I believe their limit is @5%?) I believe AL, FL are the same as LA. Their maximum content may vary slightly but the normal beer should be the same.

there are a handfull of states that do regulate alcohol content. florida isn't one of them, although i've found that a case of beer is usually a few bucks cheaper in LA.

I don't know if anyone has addressed the question. In other words, is a Bud Light (for example) brewed differently to result in varying alcohol content depending on which state its distributed?

I've also wondered that. Seems impossible to do from an economic standpoint.

So Budweiser brews a batch specifically for Colorado and one of Utah, etc.?

When you make beer in the volume that the big beer companies do, you can make it work.

Microbrews can't compete with that obviously.

If you look, it is pretty much only the big brewers who have their beer in those low ABV stores.
When you brew copious amounts of swill, it's not hard to brew a lower ABV swill

utah as well, but i thought it was 3.2 %

it is 3.2% by weight. Most beers are listed by volume. 3.2% ABW is about 4.0% ABV, so i think normally brewed light beers are ok.

and also that 3.2% rule is only for certain stores.

i'm no expert, though, dont recall ever buying beer in utah or colorado

I was just in colorado. Most grocery stores had a separate liquor store inside the Grocery store. You did walk through a vestibule and had to pay separately from the groceries.

ETA: And you could also buy growlers and 6 packs togo at the brewpubs.

I was specifically wondering about Florida. I've google it and can't really find what I'm looking for. I heard it again from a friend a couple years back. I told her to bring me the empty case/can and show me the lower content and I'd pay for it. Never settled that bet.
