Thank you. Do they serve wine and beer? I know a lot of people that rave about the food. Is the food really that good?

I've found that there is better Thai food in Houma on the northshore but to be fair I only ordered a couple of things there

I'd suggest getting some recommendations from people who have navigated more of the menu and they won't steer you wrong.

Depends on what you get, but that's every where.

A few of the crowd favorites:

Lemon Grass Soup: if you have multiple people wanting this, you can get the small pot.

Rama Spicy: basically an asian burrito appetizer that you wrap yourself. You can tell them how spicy you like it, but remember Thai folks eat really spicy foods so don't go crazy. You can always ask for the spice rack afterwards to kick it up a notch yourself.

Beef Larb: Flavorful ground beef that you wrap with lettuce or cabbage. THis is a very traditional thai appetizer dish and should be served with cabbage but for some reason you have to ask for it, otherwise out comes the lettuce.

We love the Rama duck and get it every time.

If you're a fan of curry, try the panang curry with whatever meat you like. All of their curries are very good, but I prefer this one.

The pad thai has been a hit or miss lately, but it used to be the best pad thai in town.

Hope this helps.

I have been there a LOT of times. This was our go-to spot with the exSO.

Best dish: Pad Thai

Best App: Tempora or Shrimp Chips w/ peanut sauce.

I have also heard great things about the dumplings or egg rolls that you wrap up yourself.

Lemongrass soup is legit. We also really liked the Mee Krob but it is also a little sweet, so i dont recommend getting that with the Pad Thai unless you dont want to share.

I've tried a couple of their curries, but curry doesnt alway agree with me no matter where I am, so i have no recommendation there.

Apps, soup, entrees for two will put you at about 30-35 bucks.

ENJOY!!

I hear the service is absolutely abysmal. Any truth to this?

Pretty sure the women that serve the food also cook it so it can be slow if the place is busy...and they're older women

It's just something you have to accept if you go there. I didn't find the service to be that bad all things considered...

I think its a stereotype of family owned Asian places. Heard the same thing about Pho Quynh/Viet Garden and the service was very attentive

Haven't been since '88. It was so cheap ,we could eat there once or twice a semester while we were in school.

Then, service wasn't an issue. I've seen a few complaints on here about service issues now. Maybe the ladies are moving just a bit slower...It's a great hole-in-the-wall Thai joint. Folks should hit it, and if the service is slow, order drinks two at a time. There's always a way to beat the system.

As far as the service being slow... it isnt fine dining. Its all part of the experience.

The little Asian ladies are super friendly and they are working pretty damn hard if you watch them.

There sometimes my water glass got empty for a few minutes.. but i drink a lot of water and never complained. They are pretty attentive. I always tip them over 20% because they serve you three to four courses and the total is only 30-40 bucks (without alcohol). They earn every bit of that $6-$8 range. I usually leave 10 because the food is worth 50.

This is no stereotype

The service can be abysmal if they are busy. We once were sat at a table, waited for our drinks for 20 minutes, then waited to order our food 20 minutes after that. In that time, I saw a man come in to pick up a togo he had ordered 30 minutes ago, only to be told to come back in 45 minutes. Forty five minutes later, he shows up, food's still not ready

Either get there real early, or real late. I'd recommend real early.
