I just feel that if I wake my daughter up at 6:15 am, I'd rather it be for her (and our) favorite rides rather than scrambled eggs. I can just as easily grag a banana and a clif bar out the door, eat a cinnamon roll when we get there and I'm good for a few hours. It isn't like we won't sit down and meet the characters because we will but once you pass on rope drop crowds, you don't have another chance to get them.

Our schedule usually involves rope drops, then we leave about lunch and head to another park that afternoon/evening.

I don't disagree. When we did Crystal Palace, we didn't have any kids yet

Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom is good. Expensive, but good. Cool place.

Rainforest Cafe is everywhere in the US. I prefer more unique to Disney places.

I actually have reservations booked in Port Orleans. But now I'm considering flying, and plane tickets are $800 cheaper if we fly earlier. But Port Orleans isnt available if we switch, AoA is. And its cheaper too.

POFQ has some killer deals and is very nice. I stayed there last trip, but I'm doing CBR this go around.

we were barely in our room so it wasn't worth the upgrade to Coronado. when we go back, we might just do the value resorts.

This for $450 more over 5 nights we could have stayed in AK Kidani. We are in our room so little it wasn't worth it for us to upgrade.

Agreed.

Cinderella's Royal Table is great. I like breakfast better than dinner though.

Ohana is ah-mazing. Bread pudding was the best.

come on you can't compare the GF to a value resort

Well yeah.. I know that, I've stayed at nearly every resort on property.. Some have their charms and some, like the allstars are very meh and on my stay the eff away from..

I think it boils down to how much Disney one can take. AoA is very Disney now resorts like port orleans tend to be more peoples speed.. Still Dis just not a color pallet a animated throw up

GF is geared more towards adults so obviously it won't look the same.

True, but i tell you what .. My kids loved that resort. And it was the simple things there
IE:
Lobby jazz band. surprised how many times they asked just to hangout and listen.

GF cafe.. Normally we're fighting a giant food court for breakfast.. There.. Zero line walk in get food sit.. I wasn't loud and they could wake up properly..

And Monorail.. Huge plus with them.. i think we made loop a few times just cuz..

There are other things as well, but for the most part when we go back i'd prefer stay there

Value resorts suck... Not the places themselves... The people there... They have no concept of personal space... At the counter service places, trying to get coffee, they'll pull up next to you , basically rubbing elbows to get their coffee... Aggravated the shite out of me... But it was a bunch of people from the NE, during Sandy... could've been the reason

Not to sound snobby but the only resorts I eat at are deluxe resorts (and Swan & Dolphin) and as an early riser I am usually getting my coffee after my morning run about 6:30 am so I don't deal much with "them", but I do agree. It's not the resort or the staff at the values that is bad, it's the other guests.

the deluxe resorts tend to price out the trashy people who can actually afford to go to Disney

I've never stayed at a value resort. But I have visited for the pools... no need to go there again, pools or otherwise.

I've stayed at all 3 levels of resort. Pop Century and AoA seem to bring in a better class of clientele than do the All-Stars. Plus, frick sharing a bus with 2 other resorts.

We stayed at the Dolphin of dolphin and swan. So I don't think we got the full Disney hotel effect

I wouldn't have cared if we stayed at motel 6. I just love Disney

Back on topic...

I think the best bang for buck at disney is Via Napoli. Pretty decent prices for some really good "authentic" food.

And to 4444's point about breakfast and the DDP, the last time we used it, we paid cash for breakfasts (Crystal Palace, Tusker House, 1900 park). Saved them for signature places like Hoop-dee-doo.

Agree. We joined DVC last year and before that I had only stayed at value resorts. Clientele is way better. Not to sound snobby but don't know how I did it.

I feel ya..

Hey, I've stayed at the Plaza Buena Vista right across from Downtown Disney and hell it was probably the best bang for buck place i've stayed on property.. Got a room for 99 a night so we we're able to extend our stay a few years ago from a normal 7 days into 12

Honestly what I found to be best bang for buck with the DDP is two things. #1 you can get the largest Starbucks frap with an extra espresso shot with a snack credit. #2 for 2 quick service credits you can get a large pizza from Sassagoula Float works in POFQ. The pizza is actually not bad.
