Only time I'll get it is if I'm down on Frenchmen and need a quick bite.

Same here. It's owned by the extended Georges family. Of course they're trying to squeeze every last damn penny out of it.

apparently one of the former employees opened a place called "dis and dat" which serves burgers as well ?

I think it's the same owners and is a shameless cash cow masquerading as some neighborhood burger joint. I've heard from friends who have gone there that they use frozen patties, what a joke.

I have a hard time picturing Dat Dog in Lakeside's Food Court.

I don't go to Lakeside much either these days, but I am thrilled to have an option to drink decent beer and grab a snack while the wife is shopping.

Why? Im sure it will just be a typical food court place. It's basic food for the basic people who frequent Lakeside mall. A lot of foot traffic and it will be appealing to kids/parents with kids. It will probably kill there

Yeah, despite having never been to the place, it seems to me like a hotdog place would kill it in a mall.

Pizza, chicken... people don't want a sit down feast at the mall.

That said, seems really weird because the vibe of Dat Dog doesn't really seem food-court-y.

Wise, I was going to make a wisecrack like "That's a long walk for Jake" or "Are you riding your bike or walking". Then I remembered Kennabrah and that your work takes you out there. That's all I've got. Bored at lunch.

BTW, for some reason I've never quite gotten into Dat Dog. Not sure why.

im trying to think, were there ever any non chains in their food court?

i remember popeyes, mcdonalds, sbarro, smoothing king, cookie place, ice cream place, and subway. I honestly have been in their food court in 10 years or so

Do you consider Byblos a chain?

Only open spots in the food court are where the McD's was and now the steak sandwich place.

I understand why believe it will be good there, because kids love hot dogs right?

Except kids love plain hot dogs, bland chicken fingers, and cardboard box pizza. I seriously doubt many kids will be lining up for Guinness dogs, turducken, hot brats, Andouille sauce, creole mustard, and whatever other out of the box toppings they have.

Yeah they will sell to kids but that is most certainly not their prime demographic.

I'm talking about location wise, not just in Lakeside Mall. It will probably do well in Lakeside Mall.

Just the food court seems odd for their set up.

I wonder if the mall location will be cash only?
