Going to the Cure bar on Freret tonight for the first time. Do I need a gun or knife? Is parking easy? Going from 6-8.

Seriously, what's the story on this place?

Park in the Bloomingdeals parking lot on Freret.
They have a large cocktail menu at Cure. If you get a table, the service is pretty terrible from my experiences. You're better off sitting at the bar and chatting up the bartenders if at all possible.
I was sitting at a table one night with a group and was enjoying some Pappy. The girl literally took 30 minutes to check on us. The guys were sitting drinkless for awhile. They could've sold me two more Pappy's if they came and go our orders at the pace we were drinking, which really wasnt anything out of the ordinary. Just sipping. The place isnt that big, so it's not like she was swamped with drink orders.

no
yes
They have some very good cocktails.
I would have just gone up to the bar and when she finally comes by just politely let her know you got your drink at the bar

Thanks Gyno, leaving shortly. It is a 40th birthday party for a friend.

It is a pricey place. Don't expect to get drunk unless you want drop some cash.

I second what everyone said about the poor/inattentive service. When the girls finally come to your table they are always very flippant and non-conversational.

My review from last year:
Oh the woes of bad service in my review writing today. I write with a frown on my face. As Paula Cole would say..."Where has all the good service gone?" O.K....so she was talking about cowboys and not good service. But damn if I don't have that song stuck in my head now.
I headed to Cure to meet a friend for some drinks and maybe a bite to eat.
I adore the atmosphere of Cure. When it comes to looks alone, it's probably my favorite bars in New Orleans.
Like a trophy wife...looks only get you so far.
Cure is craft cocktail central. I get that's their thing, but to only offer THREE red wines by the glass, and one of them not even being a cabernet, just seems ridiculous to me. I went ahead and ordered what they had available (I tried two different ones), and I didn't like either. I also tried their punch of the day. It was made with champagne, and I don't remember what else. But it was pretty tasty. Cure knows what it's doing when it comes to mixed drinks.
The biggest fail though came from the service. Sigh.
Even though they weren't very busy at all, I sat several times with an empty drink, wine or water glass and we were sitting at the bar right in front of two bartenders.
Then I decided to order some food. Their food is tasty, but expensive! I ordered the blue cheese and fig crostini for $4.75. I'm figuring I'll get a couple of crostini. Nope, I got ONE. One crostini with a spread of cheese and some fig for $4.75.
The worst part was that this one crostini took 30 minutes to arrive.
The upside was that the bartender did apologize and took it off of my bill.
I still love the atmosphere and drinks at Cure. So there's still love there. But if I'm in the mood for wine, I'm not going there because of the dismal selection of wines by the glass.
And I get that you're all into yourself. I get that you make some delish craft cocktails using ingredients that I've never heard of. I get that your bar is going to be in an episode of American Horror Story. I get that you talk with an accent that isn't even distinguishable, and it's clearly fake. But please fill my water glass when it needs it, and give good service. Because if that's not there, then it's hard to let the other things shine.
