I think he meant White Star was a better value.

I'll share my "that's typical" Cristal story: One time I was in Vegas at one of the fancy clubs and the table next to ours bought two bottles of Cristal for $800 each. They made mimosas with it! Of course it was a bunch of Jersey Shore types. It took all of my sobriety to not say something to them.

I forgot about Tattinger!

I'll also throw out Laurent Perrier, Bollinger, Krug.

Honestly my go to Champagne is Chandon Noir. Like 17 bucks and tastes awesome!

White Star has ceased to exist.

It's now "Imperial."

Jump past the $10 to $20 stuff, though I don't mind a $12 Cordon Negro for a cheap drnk or mimosa.

Get a Moet & Chandon Nectar Imperial or $40ish Veuve Clicquot(Nectar Imperial is better), $60ish Krug Grand Cuvee, which show a clear line of demarcation in taste over the cheap stuff, yet without breaking the bank for the $100 & up bottles.
