I'm not. I prefer the company of females over fat boys. Again. Whatever.

so are you poor then?

I mean are trying to have the supreme say in how many lbs of crawfish a party should have?
Its cool and all that you live in OZ and majority chicks come to your crawfish boils are girls.. but in the real world it usually 50/50 or majority guys...... people like to eat crawfish.

not too much IMO, seems to always work out nicely when we do 5 pounds per person.

I usually do 5 as I said above, but if you have other food items, 4 might be good.

5 pounds aint shite at a home boil. hell, it's not even that difficult for a man to eat 10. most of the time, you eat 5.......drink a few.....go back and pick at 3-5 more anyway.

at a restaurant, it's different.

Thanks for the heads up. I've never had a crawfish boil before. Neither has trout bandit. If we do we'll be sure to account for 7 pounds per man, woman and child.

So, he should get a 35LB sack for every 3 people to be safe, or 7 sacks for 20 people.

20 people x 7 lbs = 140 lbs

140 lbs divided by 33 (avg weight of our sacks) = 4.24 sacks

did i do something wrong? i'm pretty shitty at math

Throwing one of these this weekend and have a few questions. I live around Bluebonnet in to give you an idea of where I live. Thinking its gonna be anywhere from 15-25 people. My question is how many sacks you think I should get? And where can I get the best bang for my buck? How much should I be expecting to spend on a sack?

What i would do first is RSVP so you will have a better idea how many will come, and so you don't have to guess just ask if the one's joining will be eating as well. Believe it or not there are usually some that come to boils that don't eat at all or very little, so this will help you in your decision unless you know the people very well already.

Now even more important is if you are boiling more than 2 sacks, how many pots do you have ? If only one say between 60-80 qt, you gonna have some unhappy people because it will take along time, and when you throw in taters and corn that's even less crawfish in a boil. I do boils for people every season and can boil 4- 45-50lb sacks at one time so it would be great if you have access to at least 2 pots for your boil.

If you don't know you aren't that close with the people so do the three sack thing. When we have a boil with my wife's family it is 8 adult people and 3 sacks & 5 lbs of shrimp. It is Dutch cause them people can f'n eat, we never have left overs.
