I'm a huge fan of Cote du Rhone's and am looking for suggestions on ones to try. Of the ones I can remember, I've had:

Guigal (current favorite)
45th Parrallel
Barton & Gustier
Vidal-Fleury

Which should I attempt to find next? And are there any other types of wine I should try that would be similar?

The Guigal and teh Jaboulet (45 parallel) are good wines, especially considering the volume in which they are produced. Kermit Lynch is an importer based in Berkeley who brings in a lot of well known European wines and also bottles some wines under his own label. He makes a great CdR year in and year out as well as a wine from the Vaucluse that is about $8 that is very very good. Domaine de L'Ameillaud - Vin De Pays De La Principaute D'Orange is not technically a CdR, but it's a great wine for $10 if you can find it. I dont know where you live, but Martins in BR and NO usually has a good selectino of lower end Rhones and it's worth talking with the staff about what you're looking for. They know their portfolio pretty well.

Saint Cosme makes a great value CDR. Usually 100% Syrah which is unheard of for a wine of that price point. Also, look into so CDR Villages wines. Usually a bit higher quality for a little more price. Like he said Martins or Hoppers in New Orleans would be good choices. In baton rouge, and of the wine shops or wine grocery stores would have a decent selection of variety.

It looks very much like a Newfie. Large Newfies will scare the crap out of you when they run up to you in the dark(can't find that anymore at night), but that was years ago.

Hah. She won't get anywhere near that big. She's a good bird dog, but maxes out at 35lbs. Newfies are cool dogs though.

'Ats what I thought. I got one of those. Good dogs. Nobody knows about 'em, though.

They have a great disposition and are beautiful dogs with the brown coat and amber eyes. We get compliments on ours all the time. She's about 32 lbs.

Agreed. She is gorgeous. We get compliments constantly, as well as a bunch of wrong guesses at her breed.

I have tried one bottle before and remember liking it. I'll have to look into it. Are they usually $$$ compared to CDR?
