Costco Must Have's

Just signed up for a Costco membership yesterday. Mainly signed up for the travel packages that they offer for our honeymoon later this year, but like the idea of buying certain things in bulk as well. We walked through yesterday and spent about $80 on a few things. Any must have items for the next time we go? Was pretty impressed with the way their meat looked. Didn't really look at price/lb or anything, but quality looked pretty decent. Their chicken salad was pretty legit on their croissant roles, and got some maple salmon I plan on trying tonight.

Their tequila and margarita mix is good, so is their frozen pizzas, meat, fresh orange juice, and granola bars...

Meat is pretty good. Prime stuff is much cheaper than other stores. Briskets, tenderloins, bone in tomahawks, etc have good value whether choice or prime.
The soup 2 packs are pretty good too. I've tried the chicken tortilla, broccoli cheddar, and lobster bisque that were all great.
I buy all my butter there too. Beer is cheap for some pretty decent stuff. Wine is super cheap at both sams and Costco. They have $60 moet imperial for $40.
It's pretty obvious, but if you use enough of something to buy it in bulk, you will find a lot of value at Costco. If you're going to buy in bulk just to use a little and throw it away when it goes bad, you'll lose a lot of money.

The Prime meat is some of the best prices you will find. Towels are another score for about $6. Other than that the liquor and bulk home goods like Toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags can be had at a good price.

EV Olive Oil (Kirkland's)
Butter
Margarita Mix
Kirkland's Alcohol in general is a really good deal, especially Vodka

If you use the search function you can find a thread with a big list. I've been hitting up the individual serving hummus cups (30pk?) the past couple of times. I always get the boneless/skinless chicken thighs and put them in the freezer. I like the steaks and usually get a pack or two. Cook two that night and then vacuum seal in sets of two.

The thick cut pork tenderloin is great. Large cheap bottles of mateo's salsa.

quote:We looked at their liquor too, because we are starting to buy for the wedding as well. Was pretty impressed, a 1.75mL of Tito's was only $26. Has anyone tried their Kirkland's brand of liquor? They had that set up right next to the Crown Royal, which we were planning on getting a few handles of, for literally half the price. I think the 1.75mL of Crown was about $36, and the Kirkland's brand was $18. Thought that was crazy, but then again it may be sh**.

I have an outdoor double fryer that holds 5gal cooking oil. I can get a 4.5 gallon jug of Kirkland frying blend for $18. Compare to $45-50 for Lou Ana.

Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh yeah. That's pretty much all we buy for parties and things like that.
Their "french vodka" is Grey Goose rebottled and half the price. The Canadian Whiskey is essentially Crown. Its good stuff at a great price.
And their EV Olive Oil is seriously good. Its rated extremely highly.

I like their catfish filets. Not the best price around, but they trim a lot of the grey fat off of the bottom so it's worth it to me.
They have these in large packs too:

Yea, I had a friend introduce me to that and it's now there's a jar ALWAYS in our fridge.

Don't buy their preformed burger patties. The meet is great quality, but they are so tightly packed that almost no matter what you do with them they turn out tough.
Other than that, their paper products are fantastic. The paper towels, toilet paper, and baby wipes are a must buy IMO.
The Kirkland brand chicken stock is also really good.

I have yet to try any Kirkland liquor that wasn't good. I like their Canadian whiskey more than crown.
Also their diapers are great.

Man I do wish our Costcos in Texas sold liquor.

Is awful. You get a little ways into the roll, and it starts ripping everywhere except at the perforations, and you end up with long, ragged strips with every tear.
