Donald Link's Cajun icon Cochon is taking over an adjacent building in the Warehouse District (at Tchoup and Diamond), Todd Price reports this week, with plans to double its size, expand the kitchen, and add a new 80-seat dining room by December:

The new dining room, designed by architect Brooks Graham of Graham/Little/Studio, will be a soaring, industrial space lit by windows facing Diamond Street and skylights in the ceiling. A mezzanine level will offer seating for private groups. The addition will let Cochon finally accept more reservations for large tables.

Chef/co-owner Stephen Stryjewski tells Price that the currently 3,5000-square-foot restaurant only anticipates closing a few days during renovations that will add on another 3,2000-square-feet.

I really wish we'd have gotten Butcher in Lafayette and not Cochon. Butcher would've absolutely killed it downtown.

If at tchoup and diamond, it must be the grayish building just off that corner. The one on the corner is certainly occupied

The ol lady and I went to New Orleans last weekend after the LSU game. Walked to Cochon Butcher Sunday evening around 6:30. When we got there, I was sad to find out they closed at 4:30 on Sundays. Have heard many good things about this place and was excited to try it.

I agree, seems a little late, but it's Link's money.

I hope they put new chairs in this new dining room. Those wooden ones make me squirm all meal long. Horrible.

Agree. Chairs are terrible.

Cochon is very good, but more importantly the conventioneers love it. He'll print even more money there now.
