How many times do you idiots have to be told that they have a few copies of printed menus if you ask?

I have asked, and I have been told that they don't have them printed out anymore. It is possible that the waitress was lazy and didn't want to go get it for me, but either way it is a problem.

Do you really think people are lying about this? Maybe you're the idiot.

Wow. Never thought a beer menu thread would generate such passionate debate. I actually like BeerMenus. That way I can see what places have new beers that I want to try. I think it's actually beneficial for business. Plus they can advertise specials, tap takeovers, etc.

I'm happier that Chimes East updates their Beermenus site as soon as beers are tapped than I am upset that there's no piece of paper with said beer menu printed on it.

Some places *coughPelicanHousecough* don't even bother to update their beer menus at all, paper or online.

I'm a fan of beermenus. It is a way better system than printed menus, but maybe they need to have a better way of letting customers access it than assuming they have their own smartphone. Maybe they should invest in a few tablets and just have those on hand for when people request menus...

I was thinking that earlier in this thread, actually. They might be the worst place in town as far as updating their beer menu.

The menu itself is the same they had when the place opened, which we all called happening when we saw that they were made out of legit material.

And the printed insert is often outdated.

At one point, the far right side was where newly tapped beers were kept, but I don't know if that's even still the case.

Maybe I am just out of the loop but living in ATL and travelling pretty consistently I have never actually used beermenus.com or seen it referenced in any beer bar or restaurant.

Most bars have two menus when it comes to beer, a draft list which in almost any scenario would be 1pg long and at a good bar has to be printed off daily due to changes and then a bottle list which I could certainly see being annoying to print off every single day. The good news about a bottle list is that the list probably isn't changing very often and you can almost always get away with printing it off once a week.

Chimes will also give you the WiFi account if you ask since they have Chimes University and what not.... so it really doesn't even cost data....

I almost always know what I'm going to be ordering before I go into a place, so this is not a problem for me. I can only do this because the taprooms have updated beer lists. Portland is very competitive, so almost all of the mavenly places have a taplist online.

Last summer I was excited to find a tap room opening within walking distance of my house. Turns out that the owner emphasizes the food more than the beer. He has 22 taps and only rotates 3. No online beer menu - really no need, because he only has 3 rotating taps, which he keeps on a chalkboard. I don't go there very often.

Is that some sort of test? If you can't read the menu, then you're not sober enough for us to serve you another beer?

That's borderline too many taps...

And you think a digital menu will ruin the atmosphere, somehow?

That chalkboard makes my eyes bleed.

Paper and digital. Always.

It's dirt cheap to print them out. Just accept the cost.
