I've heard about David Burkes and the Chophouse. The reviews look good. A couple of others I had in mind are The Palm, and Gene and Georgetti. I appreciate any help here. I know it's going to be crazy, but that's what we're going for. I would like a nice calm atmosphere, with good food for dinner though.

Are there Fireworks or a celebration by the Navy Pier?

some one on here swears by this place. i've npt been yet. Don't know about The Palm.

and yes, Navy Pier has the fireworks, but you are a good "distance" from there at these joints.

people also say Gibsons (good), Ditka's (meh)...my brain is farting....let me think more.

I really like Chop house b/c it is steak at its essence. Nothin fancy at all, just simple, high quality meat. Sooo good.

I go next week - and I've read wildly mixed opinions about the place.

Hopefully I'll walk away and say it's SOLID.

We're staying at Hotel Allegro, so we'll be close to the Pier.

Heard Gibson's is a 'rich guy looking for young girls' place. I don't put too much thought into that, but it did turn me off. I'm going w/ my fiance' so I won't be into drunk old dudes acting like asses.

There's a 3-part section of town that is apparently referred to as the "Viagra Triangle". I think Gibson's falls in that territory...

Thanks again for any suggestions. I've only been to Chicago once, and it was a guy trip. Cubs, beer, bar food.

Yeah. Rush street. When I was at Gibson's I didn't get that inside seating so much as it was at the bar and outside. but hey, if you are older and look rich, you might find some arm candy

Is there any reason for me to go down there? I'm not a big drinker at all...

Also, I'm not of Viagra age.

Yes, this is what I'm talking about. I want to avoid this unless the food is worth it.

None whatsoever. I'd say the ONLY reason to go would be to "people watch" as you walked the sidewalk in Mid June in route to another place.

There is also Morton's, which I like (more than Gibsons). Some are bothered that it is a "chain"...but it's like Ruth's in RE to chains...it still is good, IMO. HUGE potaters

Ok, so I've looked at all the ones you've listed, and it seems like either the Chop house, G&G, or DBurke's are the best available. Now I just need to figure out the best of those...

Sheee-it. I say do all three

to be honest, you can't really go wrong. Also, just ask the Concierge's(sp) favorite steak joint they go to when they are not working.

Thanx - I picked Gene & Georgetti since it's supposed to be such an old timey place.

Rosebud Steakhouse behind the Drake Hotel. Chicago cut ribeye was the best steak I have ever put in my mouth.
