Drove by it today on O'Neal, and his shack had been demolished. Anyone know if he is closed for good? building new? relocation? Hope it comes back, or better yet I hope someone does another Chicago food restaurant.

Al had a real bad heart attack a couple of years back and the impact on his health was very dramatic. His wife mentioned last year that business was down, it was harder to get the ingredients and that it was tough with things being what they were with Al. She said they'd probably close it up soon. :/

His son and I were (still are but havent spoken in about a year) good friends in Highschool/College. Chicago Al was an awesome guy (so was his wife). We would have small get togethers at his house back in the day and he would always play music for us. Every now and again if I saw he was busy at his shack or his cart during a parade I would go help him out for a while. I didnt know he was in bad health, hope everything is well with him.
