Headed up that way for a wedding next weekend. I'll have Thursday night to myself.

TIA

I really enjoyed The Blue Plate.

It is one of those "locally sourced" type of places, but the food was really good and it is inexpensive.

I second the blue plate. Ate lunch there, but looked like it could be cool at night. The food was pretty good.

No problem. If you are flying solo and just want to enjoy a great burger and some good beer, I highly recommend going to Tremont Tavern.

Here is a list a posted a few months ago:

quote:

Northshore:

Aretha Frankensteins is a cool little bar/pancake breakfast place. It's a weird little house, so don't get fooled if you go there.

Tremont Tavern has some really good burgers or use to, haven't been in a few years.

Brewhaus is a decent german inspired pub

Foodworks I have heard is good, but I haven't been yet.

Taco Mamacita is a pretty decent taco place, but the tacos are way too expensive for me to go often. Rather just go get some cheap ones from any number of cheap Mexican joints.

Downtown:

Tony's Pasta Shop is a decent traditional Italian place that makes everything from scratch.

The Terminal is a pretty good pizza bar that does microbrews.

Alleia is a really good Italian fusion type of place, but is more in the $30-40 per meal range or more with alcohol.

Champy's Fried Chicken is good, does have beer as well. It can be extremely greasy. Don't get the tenders, they aren't very good. Run by a guy from Louisiana.

Urban Stack is a decent burger joint, not a huge fan, but go often cause it is close to work.

Yellow Deli is a very good, but very interesting sandwich shop right next to UTC. It's run by some weird cult people that don't like pig, so don't ask for bacon or ham.

1885 Grill is a steak/seafood type of place that does some very good stuff

Two Ten Jack is a mostly ramen noodle/japanese type of place that is decent. Doesn't do hibachi.

Tupelo Honey Cafe is a chain out of Asheville that people seem to like a lot, I don't get it...

Southern Star is a local country food place that is similar to a Cracker Barrel if you enjoy that type of food.

Sticky Fingers is the local BBQ joint. Not the best, but not bad either. There is better stuff out of the downtown area.

Porker's use to be very good, but has gone downhill.

Clyde's is hit or miss. The meatloaf seems to be great, the poboys I would stay away from if you are expecting Louisiana food. It's a pretty neat bar though and close to some other cool stuff.

Chattanooga Brewing Company is a neat little brewery with bar food as well.

We have a bunch of really good brunch places, but I don't like breakfast that much, so I couldn't help you there.

I also like going to Cafe on the Corner on top of Lookout Mountain, they have some pretty good things up there.

Getting Ice Cream from Clumpies by Coolidge Park or the Ice Cream Show by the Hunter Museum and going for a night time stroll across the foot bridge is a good time.
