Charbroil 940X GOAT Charcoal Grill IMHO

Before Charbroil was a mass merchant staple the W.C. Bradley Co. in Columbus Ga made the Charbroil grill.
You could find them all around the Deep South for decades. I got my first as a wedding present and cooked literally thousands of pounds of meat on it over the 18 years it lasted uncovered and abused in my back yard.
I thought they quit making them and went without one for 6 or 7 years and then about 3 years ago I see it on Home Depot.com and ordered one immediately. The second one is better than the first. They weigh 190 pounds. I love how I can raise and lower the charcoal and how it has a front door to access the coals. I like the cast iron grates.
I have a Texas Pitcrafters side smoker that has not been fired up since I got my second 940X. I threw away my gas grill. I almost bought a ceramic before I found the 940 again but cooked on it at time or two and really didn't like it as a grill. I smoke on and have kept fires going 14 or 15 hours in it. I grilled steaks on it today and often times smoke chickens and ribs. It holds a bunch of hamburgers.
A little history on W.C.Bradley LINK
If you are shopping for a charcoal grill do yourself a favor and take a look at a 940.
I just got through cleaning it up a little and thought I would pass along how happy I have been with the old standby 940.

Never have.
I just looked around while cleaning up today at my assortment of cooking apparatus I have accumulated and realized it was by far the most used.

That's the grill my grandpa and dad cooked on. Thanks for posting. Might be my next pit

This is the one I found buried under my wife's grandfather's carport.
It's a late 70s early 80s model.
Had to clean it up a bit....
