If the wait at Dwyer's was 25 mins, the wait at French Press would have been 2.5 hrs. Place is good but unless you have time to kill and plan on having drinks while waiting, it ain't worth it.

Good for you. I'm all about win-win situations. You got fed and still saved a ton by not eating at the Dome. No need for $7 nachos

Had the signature smoke fried chicken & biscuits & noble cane pulled pork with an off the menu drink, swamp donkey.

Drink was ok. I drink bourbon and ginger ale at home and it was essentially that with a lime, little light on the bourbon (MM). Several people at the table had them when I arrived, so I just made it simple and ordered another.

Chicken was very meh. Smoke infusion was nice, and the crust was crispy, but outside of that it didn't have a lot going on. It was drowned in honey. Fried chicken isn't something I'd order, but it was sensationalized by our server as an award winning dish, so I gave it a shot. Whole half chicken, so portion was a plus.

The cheese grits with the pulled pork was good, which was all the gf ate. I tried the pork and it had such a pungent taste it was near inedible. Tasted like it was soaked in Steen's for a week. If you didn't know any better, you wouldn't know it was pork at all. It was more like eating sauerkraut than anything else. We brought it home in a box, but ended up tossing it.

Our server sold everything as amazing and when describing dishes exaggerated flavors to the point of making me laugh. I thought he was being rather sarcastic but apparently he was serious.

The place looks great inside, but I felt the whole place in general was pretty try hard at being some type of NYC establishment. I would go back and sit at the bar for drinks, but not a place I'll go for dinner again.

I've heard since I've been that they have "the best burger in lafayette." I've heard the same about Ground Pati and FatPat's, which were abolsute shite, so it could very well be the best burger but that's not saying much.

Comparing Social's burger to Fat Pat's and G Pati is like comparing a steak from Chili's to Mr. Lester's. Whoever told you either of those burgers are the best in Lafayette doesn't get out much.

I've really enjoyed the brunch the couple times I have been. Would go again in a second.

I didn't like it. I gave my reasons and now the snide replies commence.

I can see why you may be upset though. It has the same try hard feel that is echoed on this board by the "I've never had a good piece of grilled meat until i got a big green egg" crowd.

Not upset at all. I have no ties to Social. There are just some people that will never be happy.
