Begrudgingly have come to admit this.

If I need fat flakes I just use Maldon

I had to buy a smaller container recently after being denied the larger carton on several deliveries. I will try Diamond.

Has anyone tried Manischewitz?

Weirdly it’s been like that for the last 2 years.

Restaurant depot always has some of you have one near you. Just ask for a day pass.

A couple years ago, after using Morton Kosher for years, I switched to ordering Diamond Crystal from Amazon. The Morton had gone from nice flakes to crushed dust and small grains. After a few boxes of that poor quality, I switched. The Diamond Crystal has been very good.

That’s probably because you were at the end of the box. Morton kosher salt has actually moved to coarser grains.

I was thinking that too on the next to last box I bought. So bought another, my current box, and it was finer and inconsistent from the top.

Going to try something else next, probably Diamond Crystal.

Do yourself a favor and switch to Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt. Ingredients: Salt

Morton's Kosher Salt contains Salt & Yellow Prussiate of Soda (anti-caking agent)

quote:

Yellow prussiate of soda (YPS) is a hydrated cyanide salt approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in table salt as an anti-caking agent, giving it Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) status. It may appear on an ingredient label as sodium ferrocyanide decahydrate.

I don't remember any recipes listing yellow prussiate of soda as an ingredient, so I choose to leave it out of my food.

Just gotta hope the cyanide doesn't break free from the iron...*

Funny how you never see it listed as sodium ferrocyanide decahydrate.

* it won't BTW, well not in food

Winn Dixie usually has it. Walmart and others maybe not.

I have noticed it is smaller more like iodized salt texture the last couple of boxes.

My only issue with this stuff is that it doesn’t stick to food. That and the crystals are the size of small marbles lol

sea salt is crystals, best used as a finishing salt
kosher salt is flakes, best used as a seasoning agent

and yes diamond is better than Morton

Morton's Kosher has been missing it seems. I did see it yesterday at Calandro's on Perkins/Siegen.

I cannot find Diamond anywhere locally. I usually can find it at A-Z International but they are out. Anyone know of another source for Diamond Kosher other than Amazon?
