Other than Sammy's where would be a good spot to grab some boiled crawfish tonight?

ETA: Baton Rouge. Sorry.

Phil's would be clutch but they only do them Friday evening and on the weekends.

I left my zip code and got some from Village Grocery (to-go only) a few days ago, and they were absolutely fantastic. Some of the best crawfish I've had in BR.

Just be prepared for .. an experience. The store is odd.. 1 shelf and a bunch of empty space. And the clientele is certainly interesting to watch while you're waiting on the crawfish.

Village Grocery

New owners as of about 5-6 months ago. As far as I am concerned, it has gone to shite. I mean, they are down to 1 shelf. It used to be full up. And they haven't figured out that if you cook the crawfish to totally done. And put them in an ice chest and close the lid, they get mushy. Mr Lou had all that stuff figured out after years of being there. The new folks have a lot to learn....if they last that long.

I thought the crawfish was good. Granted, I waited half an hour because they didn't have any cooked when I arrived. I might have gotten lucky and gotten a good batch They were super spicy, which I like.

Like I said though.. the clientele was horrible. You couldn't pay me enough to open a place like that in an area like that. They had 3 different people walk in and be completely rude and loud to the girl behind the counter just because they were out of corn and potatoes (it was right before closing time).

I did find the regular food menu hilarious. Especially the weird combos. Spaghetti with fried pork chops/oysters.

Wow, I was unaware of that. Lou put out a very good product. I recommended it to someone here a few days ago and they said it was great

Seasoning is the same. Care is different. Size likely as well. Lou was very particular about that.

Lunch menu definitely tastes different. So much as they are using different meats for the pork chops and stuff. Fried rice has the pink dehydrated shrimp now. Batter isn't as crunchy...little things that someone who didn't eat it as much as we did likely wouldn't notice. But pretty much we have cut back by at least 1/5 of what we would order it before.
