Only food I've ever had there was a burger. Good both times I've been. Had the "Nitwit" beer and enjoyed it. IPA was good too.

That parmesan chicken is really good. A friend of mine had the pot roast sandwich and said it was good.

Service has not been great in my experience, but I've had worse. The beer is good, and my kids like their sodas--they make their own root beer, cream soda, and cherry soda (I think). Kids also love the Pizookie dessert, which gives us a chance to linger over beer.

why don't you list all of these wonderful "local" places that you speak of that are much cheaper than the dreaded "chains" ..

Georges
Sammys
Dempseys

Just to name 3 off the top of my head.

Dinner for me and the GF at BJ's...$55.00 on Friday Night. Had appetizer...2 entrees....3 beers.

Went to Dempseys lastweek....$32.00....appetizer....2 entrees....3 beers. About the same as Georges or Sammys.

So Ill say it again...continue going to an overpriced chain and eat food that tastes like cardboard...the same food that you can eat at the restaurant they have in fricking Michigan...and Ill be at Sammys slamming aluminum Bud Lights and eating boiled shrimp for far less money.

Not this place again!

If you have to make excuses and sit at the bar why even bother with this place. Do yourself a favor and check out one of the places mentioned above

these three places are cheaper than the chain places like chili's, applebees, etc. ?? you're full of shite ... on that list, the only one really worth a shite is dempsey's .. sammy's has gone to crap and george's might be the most overpriced crap in BR .. get over your one bad experience at BJ's .. go into the place, sit at the bar and give it another chance ... if you are going to HONESTLY tell me you have NEVER gotten bad service at sammy's, then you just don't go there that much ..

Chimes LSU
Chimes East
Parrains
Brew Bachers
TJ Ribs
Superior Grill

...just to name a couple more local places you asked me to name, here you go.

All have better quality of food and better service....and are far more economical than BJ's.

Ill agree to disagree with you...I may take your "sit at the bar at BJs" advice and get a quick bite and beer one day if im passing by....but that is the only way I will be back. Ill continue at the local places I mentioned before I go out of my way to BJs again.

I like to support the "local" places also, but can't say they are "cheaper" than the chains. I ordered that same boiled shrimp at Sammy's the other night and I believe it was $16, then had to order another plate so that I could satisfy my hunger. Add that up and it comes to $32 not counting my beer and the other mouths at the table. If all we had in Baton Rouge were "local" places to eat at, we would be in a world of hurt...

yeah .. there's no way on earth that places like the chimes for example are cheaper .. and i patronize all the places on his list ... and you know what ?? i have had good and bad experiences at all places .. more good than bad obviously .. but still .. had i stopped going to these places because one time i got service that i didn't think was very good, i would have missed on the next 15 quality meals i got at each place .. that's my point ..

BJ's

Good pizza.
Great Beer.
Annoying mall crowd.
Shitty Service.

I won't go out of my zip code for it, but it is good if you like corporate places. We like walking to restaurants so that we can stumble home.
