Have you ever been to a restaurant and had to wait for your reservation? I have.......5-10 minutes......I had no problem with it.

But what if more than one table does it, and it back up everything. Then, when the 130 reservations arrive, they are waiting 20-30 minutes?

You okay with that?

"If" is an awfully big word for only 2 letters.

I'm sorry, let me rephrase so you can't deflect.

When a table runs over time, it backs everything up. Tables don't magically appear out of thin air, so they are a finite resource.

When things back up, it has a corollary effect. 5-10 minutes at 12 turns into 20-30 an hour later.

It's not hard to understand, but you somehow still don't grasp it.

Oh, look, he whines some more. Why won't you just acknowledge that your point was unreasonable given the date and the need for a reservation.

The hostess may have erred in informing you that a reservation was unnecessary, but it still doesn't change the fact that you are bitching about the common and accepted practice of not seating reserved tables.

It doesn't take someone being all knowing to have a little common sense.

Quit being a bitch.

Lets just agree to disagree.

You guys are treating me like treblehook.

I've said this is my favorite place to eat........I was just disappointed today.

Not sure what's hard to understand. The guy's wife tried to make a reservation a week ago and yet somehow you hold him at fault of the way things transpired? Seems to me you're being a little unreasonable. It's a bad practice... It's as simple as that. As far as a mailing list, I find it a little ridiculous to be on a mailing list for every restaurant that I may dine in.

Clearly, you did not read the thread before posting. At least I hope you didn't, otherwise you have the reading comprehension skills of a five year old.

I made no statement regarding the propriety of the reservation snafu.

In response to the OP's statement that he saw many empty tables while eating, I explained that it's common practice to hold reserved tables because you don't know that, if you seat them, they will be available at the reservation time.

I'm sorry I had to re-explain that for you.

You must not have read my email.

I asked if my rant to them was warranted.

I believe they made a mistake and could have rectified it.

Since you're attacking another poster.

Thanks for explaining the purpose of the empty tables. It makes perfect sense to me now considering that the OP's request for a reservation wasn't granted. Thank you for clarifying.

Oh I read it, and that wasn't attack. I clarified my argument so the poster could more easily understand, because he apparently didn't based on his post.

As to you, your rant is not warranted. There. I thought that was implied.

I apologize for my reading comprehension. It looked to me that the OP's wife called for a reservation and it was not granted due to a mistake by the staff of the restaurant. OP should edit to accommodate your thoughts on the matter. I didn't realize I was discussing the business practice of restaurant.

That sucks for you. The restaurant laid a big terd and you should think about if they deserve your business in the future.

By far, mothers day is the worst day to eat out. I will never do it.

First off,a place like this is not use to taking reservations. Sure they can do it on a regular weekend, but on the big days they for the most part, don't have a clue. This is not a knock on the place, the one in Mandeville is pretty good. They should have booked two thirds of the tables at eleven and pushed anyone who wanted a noon seating to 12:15 or 12:30,again only booking two thirds giving room for walk-ins. This is just a guide line and nothing is written in stone. My two cents. Bash away!

Why you no make reservation?

I'd have shown my arse a dozen ways over. I don't see an issue with the complaint. I could've seen use of taking the guy's food at a reserved table and telling him to DWI in my younger days.

I knew you'd agree.

The food was spot on......I have no complaints with the food whatsoever.

When I read about Mother's Day dining disasters I just laugh. If you are dumb enough to go to a restaurant on Mother's Day, at brunch, without a reservation and expect anything other that bad service, good luck with that.

I'd rather dine on Whoopi Goldberg's Ped-Egg droppings than go to a restaurant on Mother's Day. Valentine's Day is a close second.

Falseprophet, your use of the word corollary was great. Thank you for the laugh so early this morning. By all means, keep posting prolifically.

Dude,

I would say something to the manager about who ever answered the phone and told you that they did not take reservations. This is the whole problem. Had she/he taken your reservation, you would have been seated and eating not caring much about the other people waiting.

No, you cant rant about how they seat or operate. You can rant about them giving out incorrect information. The person answering the phone should know what is going on.
