Could you get to the business district downtown? or Avondale?

Tons of great options there.

John's City Diner
El Barrio
Trattoria Centrale
Carrigans (greasy as frick, but I like it)
Tacos Morro Loco
Saws (any of them)
Melt

No.

If you want a burger, go to Saw's and get their burger. Much better than MooYah. Pork 'n Greens and the wings are phenomenal there too.

El Barrio
Melt
Paramount
Surin of Thailand (Get the chicken noodle curry bowl and mix in a side of rice )
Salem's Diner (Get the Philly)
John's Diner
Johnny's Restaurant
Nikki's
Nikki's West
Taco Mama
Trattoria
Brick & Tin
Rojo

All much better than MooYah

ETA: You could also hit up the Pizitz Food Hall. Couple of good options in there. I love Eli's Jerusalem Grill. Schwarma plates are damn good.

Best burger in town is either Sammy's Sandwich Shop(greasy hole in the wall in the hood) or Chez Fon Fon(fancy).

I hate Melt. $10 for a grilled cheese is a bit much.

Sammy's is phenomenal, but I tend to not send people over by the airport if I don't have to. I think the Saw burger is comparable to it anyways.

Chez Fon Fon is very good as well.

I like Sammy's and Melt and maybe one of the other ones; I was looking fast. These stuck out.

I love restaurants and I've always said you know nothing about a restaurant until you step inside.

I'm from Jackson and I can say Birmingham > Jackson in restaurants.

The food at Melt isn't bad, I just think it's overpriced for what you get.

I go buffalo chicken at melt as well. Love it.

I went to Pizitz Food Hall this past weekend. The Poke place kicked arse. I grabbed a tuna bowl and sat at the bar. Decent beer selection at the food hall bar (The Louis I believe).

The best "fast" burger in Bham is Golden Rule on Hwy 31 in Hoover.

There are some great gourmet burgers in Bham: Chez Fon Fon, Foodbar, Fig Tree, Jack Brown's.

There is nothing fast about that place

Hell, I still find myself craving an Al's bacon cheeseburger and fries here and there.

I would gladly kick a puppy for a Golden Rule jumbo cheeseburger, extra crispy fries, and a large sweet tea. Best cheeseburger in Bham for under $10.

Love this place as well. The one on 280 is close to my office and I eat lunch there frequently. The owner is cool as shite and from Israel. Said most everything on the menu is his grandmother's old recipes.

Try the Shakshuka. A spicy tomato sauce with 2 eggs poached in the sauce. It's so damn good. And that pita bread....

Headed to Fon Fon shortly. It's been a while. About to destroy a burger.
