The Texas Legislature, which two years ago gave small breweries the right to sell a limited amount of beer that visitors could drink on site, soon could consider a game-changing bill that would all customers to buy beer to take home.

Texas State Senator Kevin Eltife (R-Tyler) introduced Senate Bill 1386, which grants Texas craft brewery visitors the right to take home beer purchased at Texas craft breweries.  Along with a companion bill (House Bill 3086) introduced in the Texas State House of Representatives by Rep. Jim Keffer (R-Eastland), this legislation is expected to further enhance the national recognition Texas craft beer brings to the state, encourage craft beer fans to travel to Texas, and bolster Texas’ reputation as a craft beer destination.

Great news. I'd like to take a growler home from my neighborhood brewery.

JK now classifies themselves as a brewpub so they can sell on site for off site consumption. Basically, this new proposal is what the bill 2 yrs ago had in it until the distributors mafia told their Hackman in the legislator to take it out of the bill.

what are the parameters JK has to stay within to be classified as a brewpub and still distribute beers commercially? do they have to produce below a certain level of volume each year?

They can only produce 10,000 barrels per year.
