I do think their shrimp poboy is the best they make. I wouldn't ask for it dressed any different than they normally make it unless you want a serious "shut the frick up whitey" look.

I was looking up at the menu one day and there were two ladies standing at the register, one said can I help you. I looked at one of them and said, shrimp poboy, and she looked at me like I was the devil and said, "I didn't say anything to you." I just looked at the other and said shrimp poboy again. I got a kick out of the "service". The poboy was pretty much perfect though.

eta: my wife got the soft shell crab poboy @ johnny's and it was pretty good

Not sure of the name, but walking toward lafitte's there is a shop on the south side of bourbon. Dining room swings around to the back. Huge sammiches.
