USA Today polling to find out who the best new breweries in the country are. Some I recognize, I've even tried beers from some.

Something tells me this list won't be too accurate. What say you?

I think it would be impossible for a list like this to be totally accurate. First it's impossible to actually objectively compare all the new breweries, before even getting into the bit that "best" is all just subjective anyway.

Agreed.

I don't see Bearded Iris on the list, and have heard a lot of good things.

I doubt many (if any) people have actually tried more than a handful of these breweries. With that said, I did enjoy the beers I had from Scofflaw recently.

Bearded Iris just turned a year old Saturday and it's pretty amazing how fantastic their offerings are. I would put their IPAs up against any that I've tried from around the country. They just need to expand their selection more to be one of the big boys. When I visited the brewery, they only had like 1 stout and 1 porter and the rest were IPAs.

Man their ipas are spectacular though. I guess they are sticking to what they are best at

If you can brew them that good, I don't care how old your brewery is.

I know they have some hopefully good stuff sitting in those foeders.

Back on topic, I haven't had a lot of those. I have had several Birds Fly South funky and sour offerings and they were all fantastic.

American Solera gets a lot of love. Haven't had the chance to sample any, though. Healey always made good stuff at Prairie.

Scofflaw is legit, not saying #1, but putting out some good beer. Basement and Hooligan are very good to excellent at the brewery, need to get the canning system perfected though. Bought a 6'er to take home and the carbonation was very uneven. Craft beer drinkers will be glad when changes to the archaic beer law can go into effect Sept 1 if the House passes the new bill, Senate already approved.

Civil Society is making the best IPA's in FL. Great Notion and Solera were really impressive at RateBeer Fest. The Narrow Guage, Foam and Veil brews I've had have been very good. Not tried Scofflaw yet but the ATL folks say they blow Creature Comforts out of the water. I'm eager to try them. Haven't tried the others...

I've only heard of a couple of those.

I'm heading to Richmond this summer and can't wait to check out Veil. Also plan to drive out to Lickinghole Creek. I've heard their stuff is it hit or miss but the brewery is a great visit.

I've only had American Solera and Great Notion from that list.

Both were legit.

They may not even be the best in the city.

They are either my favorite or second favorite in Nashville, but Southern Grist has been putting out really, really good IPAs recently. Their Neapolitan stout is incredible. I love the gose and some of their sours. I haven't had a saison from them that was noteworthy though.

Also, Smith & Lentz has been making some cool New Zealand hopped IPAs recently (Motueka)
